Ring Size Calculator - US, UK & EU Sizes
Find your ring size from finger circumference or diameter. Convert between US, UK, EU, and international ring size standards with a printable sizing guide.
Formula
Circumference = Diameter ร ฯ
Ring sizes are standardized based on the inner diameter or circumference of the ring. Different regions map these dimensions to different scales (Numbers for US, Letters for UK).
Worked Examples
Example 1: Converting a known US size to UK and EU
Problem:A ring that fits is marked US size 7. What are the UK letter and the EU/ISO number, and what is the inside circumference?
Solution:US 7 has an inside diameter of 17.3 mm. Circumference = 17.3 x 3.1416 = 54.35 mm, which rounds to the 54.4 mm listed in the chart. The EU/ISO system names a size by its circumference in millimetres, so 54.4 mm maps to EU 54. The UK letter at that diameter is O.
Result:US 7 = UK O = EU 54 (17.3 mm diameter, 54.4 mm circumference)
Example 2: Converting a paper-strip measurement into a ring size
Problem:A paper strip wrapped around the base of the finger measures 62.1 mm where the ends meet. Which ring size is that?
Solution:The strip length is the inside circumference, so 62.1 mm is already the EU/ISO size (62, listed as 61.5 in this chart). Divide by pi to get the diameter: 62.1 / 3.1416 = 19.77 mm, which rounds to the 19.8 mm row. That row is US 10 and UK U. Because the strip was measured at the base of the finger, check that it still slides over the knuckle before ordering.
Result:62.1 mm circumference = 19.8 mm diameter = US 10 = UK U
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure my ring size at home?
Wrap a strip of paper around your finger base. Mark where the ends meet. Measure the length (circumference) in mm and use Ring Size Calculator - US, UK & EU Sizes.
What if I am between sizes?
It is usually best to size up, especially for wider bands which feel tighter. A ring that is too loose is easier to fix than one that cuts off circulation.
Does band width affect ring size?
Yes. Wider bands (over 4-5mm) fit tighter than thin bands. You typically need to go up 0.5 to 1 full size for a wide ring.
Can rings be resized?
Most metal rings (gold, silver, platinum) can be resized by a jeweler. Rings with stones all around (eternity bands) or made of alternative metals (tungsten, titanium, silicone) cannot be resized.
What is the average ring size?
The average women's ring size is US 6-7. The average men's ring size is US 9-10.
How tight should a ring be?
A ring should slide on easily but have a little resistance when coming off to ensure it doesn't fall off when your hands are cold or wet.
