Withholding = Federal Tax on (Income - Std Deduction - Credits) / Pay Periods + Additional

The W-4 form determines how much federal tax your employer withholds. Child tax credit is $2,000/child. Other dependents credit is $500 each. Standard deduction for 2024: single $14,600, married $29,200.

Worked Examples

Example 1: $75K single, no dependents

Problem:$75,000 annual, single, 0 dependents

Solution:Taxable = $75,000 - $14,600 = $60,400. Tax = $1,160 + $4,266 + $2,915 = $8,341

Result:~$320.81 withheld biweekly
