Formula
VOC = Throughput x EF x (1 - Capture/100) x (1 - Destruction/100)
VOC emissions equal material throughput times emission factor reduced by capture and destruction efficiencies.
Worked Examples
Example 1: Paint Booth
Problem:200 kg/hr coating, EF 0.05, 90% capture, 95% destruction.
Solution:Uncontrolled = 10 kg/hr Captured = 9 kg/hr, Fugitive = 1 kg/hr Destroyed = 8.55 kg/hr Total = 1 + 0.45 = 1.45 kg/hr
Result:1.45 kg/hr
Example 2: Printing No Control
Problem:100 kg/hr ink, EF 0.30, 0%, 0%.
Solution:Uncontrolled = 30 kg/hr All fugitive Total = 30 kg/hr
Result:30 kg/hr
