What is the order of operations?

PEMDAS/BODMAS: Parentheses/Brackets, Exponents/Orders, Multiplication and Division (left to right), Addition and Subtraction (left to right). Basic Calculator performs operations in sequence as entered.

How do I calculate percentages?

Enter a number and press %. For example, 50% becomes 0.5. To find 20% of 150: enter 150 × 20 %, which gives 30.

How accurate are the calculations?

Results are accurate to 8 decimal places. Very large or very small numbers may show in scientific notation. For most everyday calculations, this precision is more than sufficient.

Can I do chain calculations?

Yes! After getting a result, you can immediately press an operator to continue calculating with that result. For example: 5 + 3 = 8, then × 2 = 16.

What's the maximum number I can enter?

JavaScript handles numbers up to about 9 quadrillion (9×10¹⁵) accurately. Beyond that, precision may be lost. For most purposes, this limit won't be reached.

The Four Operations:

History
