Formula

Total Points = Water + Energy + Materials + Site + Indoor + Innovation + Regional

LEED scores are calculated by summing points across all credit categories. Each category has a maximum point allocation. Water Efficiency offers up to 11 points, Energy and Atmosphere up to 33, Materials and Resources up to 13, Location and Transportation up to 26, and Indoor Environmental Quality up to 16. Innovation and Regional Priority add up to 10 bonus points.

Worked Examples

Example 1: Office Building Targeting Gold

Problem: An office project achieves 30% water reduction, 35% energy reduction, 25% recycled materials, 18 site points, and 12 indoor quality points.

Solution: Water: (30/100) x 11 = 3 pts\nEnergy: (35/100) x 33 = 12 pts\nMaterials: (25/100) x 13 = 3 pts\nSite: 18 pts | Indoor: 12 pts\nBonus: 4 + 2 = 6 pts\nTotal = 3+12+3+18+12+6 = 54 pts

Result: 54 points = Silver certification (need 6 more for Gold)

Example 2: High-Performance Green Building

Problem: A building achieves 50% water savings, 60% energy savings, 40% recycled content, 22 site points, and 14 indoor quality points.

Solution: Water: (50/100) x 11 = 6 pts\nEnergy: (60/100) x 33 = 20 pts\nMaterials: (40/100) x 13 = 5 pts\nSite: 22 pts | Indoor: 14 pts\nBonus: 4 + 2 = 6 pts\nTotal = 6+20+5+22+14+6 = 73 pts

Result: 73 points = Gold certification (need 7 more for Platinum)

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the results from Leedpoints Estimator Simple?

All calculations use established mathematical formulas and are performed with high-precision arithmetic. Results are accurate to the precision shown. For critical decisions in finance, medicine, or engineering, always verify results with a qualified professional.

How do I interpret the result?

Results are displayed with a label and unit to help you understand the output. Many calculators include a short explanation or classification below the result (for example, a BMI category or risk level). Refer to the worked examples section on this page for real-world context.

Can I use the results for professional or academic purposes?

You may use the results for reference and educational purposes. For professional reports, academic papers, or critical decisions, we recommend verifying outputs against peer-reviewed sources or consulting a qualified expert in the relevant field.

How do I get the most accurate result?

Enter values as precisely as possible using the correct units for each field. Check that you have selected the right unit (e.g. kilograms vs pounds, meters vs feet) before calculating. Rounding inputs early can reduce output precision.

Does Leedpoints Estimator Simple work offline?

Once the page is loaded, the calculation logic runs entirely in your browser. If you have already opened the page, most calculators will continue to work even if your internet connection is lost, since no server requests are needed for computation.

What formula does Leedpoints Estimator Simple use?

The formula used is described in the Formula section on this page. It is based on widely accepted standards in the relevant field. If you need a specific reference or citation, the References section provides links to authoritative sources.
